Essence Makeup Haul ❤️

Hi gorgeous people!

How are we all doing on this lovely day? 🍁

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating!  Hope you have a lovely time with all of your loved ones and of course, enjoy the food! 😉

We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK but I still like to think about what I’m grateful for 😊

As for the Black Friday sales, let’s just say I have been going a bit mad online 😂 so many awesome makeup deals!!  From the confort of my own home of course 😌❤️

Today, I wanted to finally do a post that I’ve been meaning to do for a while!  A few weeks ago, I bought a couple of lip products by a brand named ‘Essence’ (y’all know how crazy I am about my lip products 😏)

I hadn’t actually heard of this brand and spotted it in my local Wilko.  The products were incredibly cheap and the colours were stunningly beautiful!  A few of them have become some of my all time favourites so I’m really excited to show you some swatches!

I bought 4 lip products:

❤️ 2 longlasting lipsticks in the shades ’06 Barely there’ and ’05 cool nude’

❤️ XXXL longlasting lipgloss matt effect in ’06 soft nude’

❤️ Lipliner in the shade ’11 in the nude’

Essence swatches

As you can see, the colours are extremely similar yet… Different 😂.  Please tell me someone understands this problem?!

First of all, let’s talk about the price!  These 4 products cost under £10 in total and range from £0.99 to £2.30!!  Bargain or what?!

The packaging is nice and sturdy.  I especially like the packaging for the lipsticks.  It’s very classy and simple and the ring of colour around the tubes is true to the actual colour!

So let’s move onto some swatches and my thoughts of each product!

Essence lipliner ‘in the nude’

I love the shades of their lipliners and did want some other colours but they were out of stock! 😩

So, I picked up this gorgeous, neutral nude colour.  I was very surprised at the quality of these for £0.99!  Quite creamy and very pigmented.  I wouldn’t say it rivals MAC lipliners but it sure is close!  I would recommend applying a lip balm lightly first though because it can drag on dry lips but I’m not complaining!  Can’t wait to buy some more shades ( I love Satin Mauve! )

Essence XXXL longlasting lipgloss matt ‘soft nude’

This matt lipgloss is absolutely delightful!  This shade is a soft peachy pink shade and is apparently a dupe of MAC’s ‘velvet teddy’! 😍

This applies like a dream!  It’s so soft and velvety.  It does take a while to turn matte though I personally find.  These remind me of Collections cream puff lip creams!  It smells divine, like cake batter and vanilla 😋😋

However, I don’t know why this product is named longlasting.  It really isn’t 😪  I find it comes off very easily (even with a swipe of the finger) so I would only wear it on top of a lipliner.  But for £2.29 I can’t really complain!  The colour is pigmented and the applicator makes it very easy to apply.  I wish they would come out with more colours though 😫

Essence lipstick ‘cool nude’

Essence lipsticks are definitely one of my favourites!  This shade is a dupe for MAC’s ‘faux’ (blimey essence, you’re doing a good job of saving me some £££! )

This shade is again a lovely neutral pink.  There is no shimmer in these lipsticks which is a big bonus!  These lipsticks are so creamy and pigmented so I don’t even need a lipbalm and at £2.30 they aren’t breaking the bank! ❤️

I have found that they don’t last for more than 3-4 hours though, but I guess that’s expected.  I am happy to reapply 😊 A lipliner will increase the longevity.

These lipsticks don’t have a vanilla smell like the lipgloss and most other lipsticks I use.  They smell of… I guess slightly like playdoh, but very faintly so it doesn’t put me off.

Essence lipstick ‘Barely there’

This shade is my absolute favourite shade OF ALL TIME GUYS!  I am not exaggerating!  I have been wearing this almost everyday and I reach for it a lot when I want a neutral yet still noticeable pop of colour!  It honestly is stunning and so lightweight.  Definitely need to pick up some more tubes of this (I’m paranoid they’ll stop making it 😂).

I also love the ‘e’ embossed in the side of these lipsticks.   It gives them a higher end feeling ❤️

So, overall I am EXTREMELY happy with my little haul.  I was so pleasantly surprised and can’t wait to try out some other products.  If you haven’t tried them GO GO GO!  You will love them! 😍😍

I really hope you enjoyed this post!  If you have any questions about the products or a post you would like me to do ask away!!

See you soon!

Lipstick Madness 💄

Hey everyone!

Hope you’re all doing awesome!

I wasn’t actually meant to post until tomorrow (bonfire night inspired makeup anyone?) but couldn’t resist injecting some lipstick craziness!

So this is going to be a very short post and I hope you feel warm and fuzzy inside like I do when I see lipsticks 😂

Lipstick Favourites

Here we have my most favourite lipsticks ever!  They include a wide variety, from drugstore to high end (M.A.C, NARS, Maybelline, Essence (my new fave!) and Kiko just to name a few).

As you can see I really like my mauvey nude shades.  I can just swipe them on and off I go!  I can’t resist not buying a mauve shade and have a long list of future buys 😂😍

If you would like to see a more in depth post about my lipstick collection please let me know!  I’d love to show you swatches on the lips!

I am planning my future posts right now as I am so busy these days!  So keep a look out for more tutorials, hauls and reviews!  And please feel free to comment if you would like me to post about anything specific!

Thanks for reading this mini post!

Hope you have a safe 5th November! 💥💥
Love you all!

Nars Audacious lipstick in ‘Brigitte’ and Mac Pro Longwear Lipliner in ‘Nice n Spicy’ Lip Combo!

Helloooooo beauties!! ❤️❤️

Hope you’re all doing super duper!  Jeez, I feel hyper today, can you tell?

I’ve been soooo busy these last few days hence the lack of posts!  But I have some free time now, so we’re back in business! 😎

Today I wanted to do a highly requested post about the lip combination I used in my MOTD post!  A lot of you said you thought it would make a beautiful everyday shade and let me tell you, it does! 💋

The two lip products I used were the Nars Audacious lipstick in the shade ‘Brigitte’ and the MAC Pro Longwear lip pencil in ‘Nice n Spicy’ (quite high end but not to fear!  I plan to dedicate a post to some beautiful drugstore lipsticks I’ve come across these past few weeks)

Mac pro longwear lip pencil (Nice n Spicy) and Nars Audacious lipstick (Brigitte)

left: nice n spicy and right: brigitte

A bit about the products and the shades then.

Nars Audacious lipstick (Brigitte):
This is without a doubt my most expensive lipstick (retailing at an eye watering £24…I flinch whenever I think about it).

I love the packaging of these audacious lippies!  It’s a beautiful matte black, metal, square packaging with a magnetised lid which makes popping it on and off so much more easier.  The metal also doesn’t get dirty (unlike the rubber packaging of the standard NARS lipsticks which attracts dust and other unknown residues like a magnet 😒).  So packaging.  Simple and chic.  Me likey 😉

I must say, brigitte is not a shade that I would normally reach for.  It is a peachy pink that looks slightly coral.  When I was looking at reviews on the web, it appeared different on everyone!  On some people it looked blue toned and on others, very coral and bright.  Not being able to resist a lipstick that appears to be a unique colour on many, I marched down to my Harvey Nichols and left a bit of a dent in my bank account 😵

The formula of these Audacious lipsticks is very creamy and you get superb pigmentation after one swipe.  Brigitte is a matte finish so I would recommend exfoliating the lips and applying a balm to ensure it looks smooth and even.  I feel this lipstick does last a good amount of time (even after drinking and eating).  In my opinion, yes NARS is a helluvalot more expensive than most lipsticks, but when it comes to NARS I feel their quality is out of this world!

MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil (Nice n Spicy):

This is probably my most favourite lip liner EVER! (at the moment anyway 😉).  You know how much I adore MAC lip products you guys 😫

I didn’t actually set out to get this lip pencil when I went into the shop.  I wanted the normal lip pencil in ‘spice’ which was out of stock, as was ‘whirl’…and ‘cork’…and ‘stripdown’…and ‘soar’… and ‘boldy bare’.  Do you see where this is going? 😩 (achem The Kylie Jenner Effect 😏).

Well.  I wasn’t about to leave the store without a lipliner so the kind lady recommended I buy the Pro longwear version (£15.00).  The closest shade to ‘spice’ was ‘nice n spicy’ 😉.  This shade is a gorgeous rosy brown with terracotta undertones.  This lip pencil is soooo creamy and it stays on your lips like cement! (In a good way).  I needed  a good few swipes with makeup remover to get it off so you can be assured that this lasts all day!

The pencil doesn’t tug on your lips at all and is obviously very pigmented.  Rather than wear it alone, I like to pair it with pinker lipsticks as it creates the most beautiful soft pinkey nude shade.

Mac ‘nice n spicy’ on its own

As you can see, by itself it lacks something?!  I feel I need more 💋

‘nice n spicy’ and ‘brigitte’

Voila!  A bit of ‘brigitte’ on top and I get an extremely versatile shade that I can wear everyday and that lasts all day!

Mac nice n spicy and Nars brigitte= HAPPY BUNNY.

As you can see, a very simple everyday lip look.  If you’re hesitant about spending ungodly amounts of money on these (I don’t blame you) some good alternatives are:

  • Essence lip liner in 06 ‘satin mauve’
  • Makup forever aqua lip 2c
  • Revlon nude lip pencil
  • Loreal colour riche balm pop in ‘caring coral’

I would highly recommend both these shades for all skin tones!  The lip liner is just the perfect rosey brown and the lipstick brightens up your complexion without washing you out!

I really hope you enjoyed this post and I apologise if I ramble on sometimes (I get carried away with lippies 😂).  If you have any requests/queries please feel free to ask.  I love interacting with everyone.  Oh and I recently went to 100+ followers which is amazing?!?!  Thank you so much everyone!!

Hope you all have a fabulous day!!!  Love you guys.

MAC ‘Twig’ review and swatches 💜

Welcome back to ibeautytalk

Hope everyone is doing great.  Summer is well and truly over here in England and it’s definitely more chilly!  Brrrr ❄️ So it’s out with the summer wardrobe and makeup and in with the thick jumpers and jeans (my favourite kinda clothes 😉)

I thought I would wrap up the MAC ‘autumn/fall’ lipstick reviews in this post and hopefully I’ll be doing a winter one soon (let me know if you want any specific brands!).

I have saved my favourite MAC lippie shade  of all time till last!  And it’s a good one 😍

The shade that I’ll be talking about today is called ‘Twig‘.  I feel like this shade is perfect for those of you who aren’t yet daring enough to wear the dark vampy shades that go with autumn/fall.  It’s a very ‘comfortable’ shade and easy to wear, yet noticeable.

I would describe this shade as a brownish mauvey pink, in a satin (almost matte) finish.  This is definitely a colour that ladies of all skin colours can pull off and it’s so creamy and long wearing 😍

MAC twig

If you’re struggling to find a lipstick shade to wear, twig would be perfect as it completes every look.  I think of the ‘Kylie Jenner lip’ when I wear this shade (for reference, I am around an NC40).  I can wear this without a lipliner and don’t experience any feathering, as with many MAC lipsticks.

Twig swatch

Twig (satin) lipstick swatch on lips

Agghh i just love this shade so much!  I’m a mauvey kinda gal so this makes me extremely happy 😂  it’s my perfect shade and I’m always reaching for it.
Pros:

  • Creamy and long wearing
  • Don’t need a lipliner
  • Gorgeous stain
  • Good colour pay off
  • Suits every skin tone
  • Perfect neutral shade

Cons:

  • Pricey
  • Hard to get hold of sometimes (where I live anyway)

To conclude, I will definitely be repurchasing this shade in the future and dare I say it… I think this is my most favourite and beloved lipstick of all time!  Long Live twig!  I will be on the lookout for similar shades, and if anyone does know of some good dupes, let us know 😄

I hope you have enjoyed this little MAC series!  Let me know your thoughts and what you would like to see in future.  Any comments/questions will be much appreciated 😊

Hope you all have a lovely evening!

Mac ‘Mocha’ Lipstick Review and Swatch!

Hey there gorgeous people!  Welcome back to ibeautytalk ❤️

Summer is nearly gone (had about 2 hours of summer here in England LOL!) and Autumn approaches.  It’s my favourite season of the year and has me experimenting with much more braver makeup styles.  I don’t know what it is about Autumn but I feel everyone rocks their makeup so I can’t wait! 😉

Today I’m going to be reviewing a second MAC lipstick, in the shade ‘Mocha‘.  Again, like the shade Amorous in my last post, this is a satin finish lipstick and retails at £15.50.

I was actually recommended this lipstick shade by a friend who said it would suit those with a warm undertone to their skin.  I’m so glad I trusted her and bought it!  It really is a lovely everyday colour.

MAC mocha lipstick (satin)

Mocha is described as a peachy yellow/orange brown and would work as a lovely nude and earthy lipstick for those with medium to dark skin.  It is a satin finish and feels/looks almost matte on the lips.  It is opaque and true to its colour, so I wouldn’t worry if you have pigmented lips as the colour shows up very well.

Being a olive skinned gal with very yellow undertones, I find it extremely difficult to find nude lipsticks that don’t wash me out and make it look like I have concealer on my lips (we don’t want that do we?!).  So, when I bought Mocha i was pleasantly surprised to find it really complemented my skin well and didn’t wash me out (woopee!), unlike velvet teddy which, unfortunately washes me out during the summer months when I tan.

‘Mocha’ swatch in natural light

As you can see, Mocha is almost a ‘my lips but better’ shade.  I find this lipstick to be a TINY bit drying after a while, so a lip balm underneath would be great for me.  This is quite long wearing (about 5-6 hours) and leaves the most gorgeous stain.  If you did want a shade a bit more darker or browner, I would recommend Mac ‘Taupe‘.

‘Mocha’ in artificial lighting

In artificial lighting, this shade looks so amazing and effortless!  It really is my holy grail nude lipstick, and goes well with a heavy look or even a touch of highlighter and peachy coloured blush.  If you’re in a rush in the morning and don’t have time to put any makeup on, a swipe of this will really polish you up and brighten your face.

I really am falling more and more in love with MAC lipsticks everyday.  They have so many shades to suit any skintone!  Plus they smell incredible 🙂

Pros:

  • Long wearing
  • Smell amazing
  • Good colour pay off
  • Won’t wash you out
  • Not too drying
  • Don’t need a lipliner
  • Classy packaging

Cons:

  • Price (as always)

So, if you have a warmer undertone and find nude lipsticks just wash you out, I can’t recommend this lipstick enough! It would be perfect.  I think this lipstick would suit most skintones, but for a warmer complexion, Mocha is a must and I find it to be very underrated.

I hope you enjoyed this review.  Please feel free to ask any questions 😄

See you very soon loves,

MAC ‘Amorous’ lipstick review + swatch 💜

Hey there lovely people,

Hope you’ve all had an amazing Monday so far.  I know I have!  Makeup shopping is by far my most favourite activity  😉

Today I went to a MAC counter and picked up three satin lipsticks.  I wanted to get some lovely shades for Autumn/fall.  Autumn time is my favourite time for wearing a bold vampy lip and I think anyone can pull it off!

The shades I picked up were Twig, Mocha and Amorous, which retail at £15.50 each.  I will be swatching the previous two in a later post and today want to focus on Amorous 💋

MAC satin lipstick in Amorous

I absolutely adore the chic, black matte packaging of mac lipsticks.  Simple, stylish and functional.

I would describe this shade as a deep plum with a hint of brown.  The satin finish lipsticks by mac are my favourite.  They are opaque, moisturising and true to their colour.  I feel this shade would suit almost any skin tone.  I myself have an olive, tanned compexion and so prefer colours like Amorous against my skin.

I find this lipstick looks different in various lighting.  For example, in natural light this colour on me is a very vibrant berry colour, however in artificial lighting, it almost looks as though it is a neutral, deep mauve.   I love that about this shade!  So versatile.

I hope you’ll excuse the bad lighting in the above picture (I have yet to master the art of swatching on the lips 😉).  I applied the lipstick without a lipliner, and feel this works just fine.  I didn’t notice any feathering throughout the day which is a bonus! (I first apply a layer, blot, then add another layer).  If you have dry lips I would recommend a lip balm before application.

The texture of this lipstick is somewhat creamy, without looking shiny.  I would describe it as a semi matte finish.  After a few hours, it leaves a gorgeous, even stain.  So, great staying power!  Also, the smell is gorgeous… A lovely vanilla scent without being too overpowering.

This shade is very buildable and can be taken from a subdued berry to an intense gothic plum shade after a few layers of application.  So, if you’re not brave enough to go all out vampy, this is the perfect plum shade to experiment with.

Pros:

  • Convenient packaging
  • Excellent colour pay off
  • Nice smell
  • Moisturising
  • No feathering/bleeding
  • No lipliner needed
  • Good staying power
  • Leaves a gorgeous stain
  • 4.5/5

Cons:

  • Pricey

I highly recommend the shade Amorous to anyone looking for the perfect autumn colour!  It will flatter most skin tones and really bring out your features.  This shade is not too dark that it can’t be worn with heavy eye makeup.  Personally, I think this with a brown smokey eye would SLAY! 😉
I will definitely be buying more mac lipstick shades and can’t wait to show you guys some swatches!

Hope you enjoyed this review and don’t be afraid to try a lip colour you’ve never worn before this autumn/fall!

Any questions please feel free to ask.
