Product Review: Benefit The POREfessional πŸŒΉ

Hey guys!! ❀️

It’s such a lovely day today 🌞 I’ve actually decided to take a day off from writing my dissertation and just relax because… why not?! 😏

I’m feeling so energised so I thought I would sit down and write a long overdue review on Benefit’s the POREfessional.  This primer is RAVED about in the beauty world, and I’d like to share my thoughts 😊

This primer has been stated to help minimise the appearance of pores and fine lines which complements all skin types!

Now, you guys know I suffer from extremely oily skin (it will be a slick in less than 2 hours) HOWEVER, surprisingly, I don’t have large pores at all. D’oh.  So I thought I would test the claim that it minimises pores on my mother (who has quite large pores).

Does it work? βœ”οΈ tick. Indeed it does.  I was amazed. Her pores had literally vanished in front of my eyes.  This is probably due to the silicones etc which work to fill the pores.  Wash it off, and the effect is gone.

This is a flesh coloured primer, but it quickly turns translucent once you start blending it in.  It’s so velvety soft and leaves your skin feeling dry and matte.

This primer does have a strong scent to it but surprisingly, I don’t mind it!  It’s sort of a citrusy, artificial smell but it doesn’t last long.

The big question however… does it prolong the wear of my makeup and keep my oils at bay?

Yes, yes it does.  My makeup still looks smooth and creasefree after a few hours and shine is kept under control for around 4 hours (which is a blessing for me!).  If I wanted, I could apply this primer on top of my makeup if my shine did get out of hand because it’s translucent and gives a matte finish straight away.  I think I prefer the porefessional to the nivea post shave balm (which I LOVE).  I would probably stay away from this primer if you have dry skin though, as it really does make the skin feel quite dry and tight.

One thing however, that really bugs me about this product and makes me hesitant to repurchase, is the PRICE.  I use the mini version which costs me Β£9.95 for 0.25 ounces (lasts me about a month) and the larger 0.75 ounce is a whopping Β£24.50!  Definitely the most expensive primer I’ve tried.  For that price, I’d expect some magic ingredient in there that actually helps minimise the size of pores, like salicylic acid.

If anyone knows any good dupes to this primer, please let me know 😊 I’ve heard maybelline’s baby skin is a dupe but the reviews have been largely on the negative side 😒

I hope you’ve enjoyed this review and let me know which is your favourite primer in the comments section!

Have a relaxing Sunday guys!

I just finished using that primer and I love the dry matte and soft finish it gives. I love the packaging too! I’ve started using the Becca Ever-Matte primer and it seriously does leave your skin matte!! It literally feels like a vacuum sucking up all the oil on my face. It’s such a great summer primer!

Benefit products never disappoint (except the Push Up Liner). But yeah, you should definitely try out the Becca primer! My oily skin loves it!! πŸ™‚

My skin can be weird – it fluctuates between normal and oily but I’ve noticed that my foundation works for both types; it’s Estee Lauder, if you’re interested – I know it’s terribly pricy but it lasts for aaages! It’s also worth it because it’s so versatile.

Is this the double wear foundation?
Ive heard amazing things about that! Although ive heard its quite heavy and full coverage? Im not a huuge fan of full coverage foundations πŸ™‚
      Thanks for the recommendation z

Yes! I would swear by it – I don’t find it too heavy, it’s very easy to layer which is ideal for me as I’m very fine-featured so heavy makeup is the last possible thing I could pull off; I start off with very light applications until I feel satisfied with the look – also, note of interest, I once had it on for about 24 hours and it was still perfect!

Sorry I forgot to add that I don’t use a primer with it (purely because I don’t own one hahaha) but it sits very well on the skin without it.

Thanks for the review! I’ve been wondering for so long whether this primer would work on oily skin, but I’ve been too chicken to buy it myself because of the price. xD I tried Maybelline’s Baby Skin Primer and it’s definitely different from Porefessional. I think Maybelline’s would be more similar to Smashbox Photo Finish.

I have the oiliest skin in the WORLD and this does a very decent job at keeping oils at bay (not a miracle product but better than anything else I own). Oooh ok! The smashbox primer was ok for me, nothing special so i might just avoid baby skin πŸ™‚
