Berry Inspired Eyeshadow Tutorial 🍓

Welcome back to ibeautytalk lovely people!

Hope you’re all doing wonderfully! ❤️

It’s definitely big fat sweater weather here in the North of England!  My favourite time of the year!  All cosy on the sofa with a cuppa! ☕️

I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do an eyeshadow tutorial inspired by berry/purple shades just for fun!  It brings a lovely pop of colour to the eyes (especially if your a brown eyed gal!)

Berry toned eyeshadow

I’ve put up a collage above piecing together the whole look for those of you who want to get straight to the point!   For those of you who want to know exactly how to achieve this look, keep reading!! 😊

For this berry inspired eyeshadow, I used the BH Cosmetics Day and Night Palette.  This is a gorgeous palette consisting of 60 versatile shades (not all of them are super pigmented but it’s definitely a fab palette for the price!)

BH Cosmetics Day&Night palette

The left side of this palette has some beautiful pastel shades perfect for daytime and the right side has some sexy dark shades for the evening!  I prefer the ‘night’ side because I love me a good smokey eye!
So, the first colour I took was from the left side (first colour of the third row).  It’s a lovely mauvey brown shade perfect for my transition shade with which to blend the rest of the colours out.

I tossed it into the crease with a big fat fluffy brush (you don’t have to be too neat).

I then took the brown shade from the right side of the palette (last row, second shade) and deepened up my crease a but more with a slightly thinner blending brush.  This will create a fabulous gradient effect.  Remember to keep blending!

I then took the tiniest amount of black mixed with the red shade and focused this mainly on the outer corner of my eye, bringing it slightly into the crease again with a more precise brush.

Don’t worry if it looks a bit messy.  We’re going to clean it up at the end!

I then took more black and focused it right at the outer corner, blending it out with small circular motions with a blending brush.

Next, I took a light shimmery purple colour (not the most pigmented colour so forgive the quality) and tapped it on to my lid.  I also added a highlight colour right in the inner corner of my eye to give an extra pop!  To clean up at the edges, take a wet wipe or some makeup remover on a q tip and neaten the edges and blend it once more so you don’t have any harsh lines.

You can now go ahead and add your eyeliner and mascara (whatever style you wish, wings or no wings!) and a browbone highlight to give an extra dimension.

And there we are!  A lovely purple, berry undertoned eyeshadow look with some lovely red undertones!

If you would like me to a post explaining exactly where to place eyeshadows and how to do this for different eye shapes please let me know!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and let me know if you decide to recreate this!

Hope you have a wonderful day lovelies!

Smokey Eye Tutorial 💜

Heeeey lovely people!!

Hope you’re all fab! ❤️

Today I wanted to push myself and do something a bit scary that I would never have done a few months ago.  An eyeshadow tutorial.  Dun dun duuuunn!  You’re probably thinking that’s not a big deal…but for me it’s huge!  I’m not amazing at applying makeup but it’s something I love to do.  It’s my happy place 😊 So I really hope you find this helpful and I know you guys will support me however it turns out because you’re a lovely bunch 😘

So without further ado…

Eyeshadow may seem terrifying at first.  You see all these gorgeous looks on Instagram and Pinterest and think how on earth did they do that?!

The key is blending.  Blend blend blend.  I would invest in a good set of eyeshadow brushes.  They don’t have to be expensive at all, just something nice and fluffy to blend, a brush to pack on shadows etc (if you want me to do a in depth post on brushes let me know 😊)

The palette I’m using today is the Sleek Au Naturel palette.  This is a gorgeous drugstore palette with beautiful neutral colours perfect for a sexy smokey eye!  Sleek palettes are definitely my favourites from the drugstore.  They are incredibly buttery and pigmented and blend like a dream!

I have shown which shadows I’m using where just to make it easier to follow.

If you want to prime your eyelids go ahead!  I don’t usually primer them.  A primer will help to make the colours more vibrant and prevent them from sliding about and fading.

First, I took a very fluffy brush and used the shade ‘cappuccino’ as my transition colour.  A transition colour helps all the other colours to blend in.

I then took the shade ‘bark’ on a different fluffy brush and swiped it in my crease.  I take very little product and build it up.  To get a nice gradient, use windscreen wiper motions and keep going back with your fluffy brush with the transition colour just to keep everything nice and blended.

Next, I mixed the shades ‘regal’ and ‘noir’ just to darken up the crease a bit more.  Then, with a stiffer blending brush I took just ‘noir’ and applied it to the outer corner of my eye.  You want to make sure you don’t take it past the crease colour.  Don’t worry if you look like a panda!  We’re going to be going back in with our transition colour and blend everything out softly so there are no harsh edges!

I’m darkening the outer v even more whilst blending at the same time.  You don’t want to bring the black too in as we need some space for our lid colour!
Last of the eyeshadows.  I applied the gorgeous ‘taupe’ on the remaining lid space with a flat brush, packing it on.  Don’t worry if you get any fall out!  We can clear that right up!  I tend to do my foundation after my eyes but if you do it first you can buy some shadow shields or just place a tissue under your eyes to capture any fall out!

Make sure to blend out where the outer v and lid color meet, as we don’t want any harsh lines.  Think Jaclyn Hill vibes!  Flawless!  Just blend it all seamlessly 😍

To finish, add your eyeliner and mascara to make it even more dramatic.  A highlight under the brown bone and inner corner will make your eyes pop even more!

There’s the finished eye.  Wasn’t too hard was it?! 😊

I realise it’s not a perfect smokey eye but I tried my best ☺️.  Eyeshadow is my favourite part of applying makeup!  Hopefully, I’ll continue improving 😊

I really hope you enjoyed this small pictorial and hope you try it out!  I’d love to see what you guys do!

I do want to try and do more eyeshadow tutorials, with different themes. Let me know if that’s something you’d like to see!

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day wherever you are!

My Beauty Wish List! ❤️

Hey gorgeous people!

How are you all on this chilly evening? 🌹

I’m trying to make the most out of blogging before my hectic life starts again next week 😊

Today I wanted to do something fun and different.  A Beauty Wish List!!  I thought it would be a nice idea since christmas is just around the corner (so pay attention peeps!😉😉😉)

So let’s get right into it then!

I’m always searching for a primer to beat the current ones I’m using and I’ve heard some awesome stuff about this primer from a lot of my favourite beauty gurus.  I have an extremely oily t-zone so anything that will even remotely help the oiliness…I will try to get my hands on 😉

You guys know I’m a MAC lipstick junkie 😭  I NEED MORE!  The shades I have my eyes on include taupe (a lovely reddy brown), creme in your coffee (deep rosey brown) and syrup (a beautiful purpley pink in a lustre finish).

I saw Manny Mua use a Makeup Forever Aqua Lip Liner in the shade 2c (a gorgeous rosey mauvey browney shade) and I thought to myself: I need me some of that!  I’m obsessed with rosey brown colours right now ❤️

Some more MAC lip products.  The standard lip pencils.  These shades were all out of stock when I went so I’m hoping I am luckier this time 😫

GUYS! 😱 I literally just discovered essence and I am IN LOVE!  I picked up two lipsticks yesterday and they are definitely on the way to becoming a firm fave.  I plan to pick up some of the lip liners (satin mauve, honey bun and in the nude) and the matte effect lip glosses (keep an eye out for a post 😉).

Can you tell I like lipsticks? 😳

I really like the look of these Stila Liquid Lipsticks and the shades Patina, Dolce and Amore are calling my name.. 😍😍.  If I can’t have the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks then I’ll pick up the next best thing 😌

I need the Kat Von D Shade + Light contour palette 😭.  Everyone on youtube raves about this stuff and I don’t own a decent contour kit yet 🌹
This is the Morphe 35O palette which was out of stock for the longest time!  Just look at it! 😍. It’s a thing of beauty my friends.  Manny Mua introduced me to Morphe Brushes and I fell in love with the colour ranges of their eyeshadow palettes!  It’s such a shame that shipping to the UK is so expensive 😪

I am so proud of Jaclyn Hill and her collab with BECCA cosmetics!  Champagne Pop looks amazing and Jaclyn uses it in in all of her videos and she sparkles like a glitter ball dammit 😍

Aaaand finally.  Cup o’ Coffee fresh face mask by Lush.  My skin is being neglected whilst at uni so I definitely need a quick ‘pick me up’ item and this looks perfect!  I love all the fresh face masks by lush ❤️
And that is the end of my (I hope it wasn’t too long?!) beauty wishlist.  Of course I had a truck load of other items I would have added but I didn’t want to bore you 😂.  As you can see I am a lipstick junkie and my friends are always telling me off 😢

I really hope you enjoyed this post ❤️

What items are on your wishlist?  I’d love to know 😄

Have a nice day everyone!

Nars Audacious lipstick in ‘Brigitte’ and Mac Pro Longwear Lipliner in ‘Nice n Spicy’ Lip Combo!

Helloooooo beauties!! ❤️❤️

Hope you’re all doing super duper!  Jeez, I feel hyper today, can you tell?

I’ve been soooo busy these last few days hence the lack of posts!  But I have some free time now, so we’re back in business! 😎

Today I wanted to do a highly requested post about the lip combination I used in my MOTD post!  A lot of you said you thought it would make a beautiful everyday shade and let me tell you, it does! 💋

The two lip products I used were the Nars Audacious lipstick in the shade ‘Brigitte’ and the MAC Pro Longwear lip pencil in ‘Nice n Spicy’ (quite high end but not to fear!  I plan to dedicate a post to some beautiful drugstore lipsticks I’ve come across these past few weeks)

Mac pro longwear lip pencil (Nice n Spicy) and Nars Audacious lipstick (Brigitte)

left: nice n spicy and right: brigitte

A bit about the products and the shades then.

Nars Audacious lipstick (Brigitte):
This is without a doubt my most expensive lipstick (retailing at an eye watering £24…I flinch whenever I think about it).

I love the packaging of these audacious lippies!  It’s a beautiful matte black, metal, square packaging with a magnetised lid which makes popping it on and off so much more easier.  The metal also doesn’t get dirty (unlike the rubber packaging of the standard NARS lipsticks which attracts dust and other unknown residues like a magnet 😒).  So packaging.  Simple and chic.  Me likey 😉

I must say, brigitte is not a shade that I would normally reach for.  It is a peachy pink that looks slightly coral.  When I was looking at reviews on the web, it appeared different on everyone!  On some people it looked blue toned and on others, very coral and bright.  Not being able to resist a lipstick that appears to be a unique colour on many, I marched down to my Harvey Nichols and left a bit of a dent in my bank account 😵

The formula of these Audacious lipsticks is very creamy and you get superb pigmentation after one swipe.  Brigitte is a matte finish so I would recommend exfoliating the lips and applying a balm to ensure it looks smooth and even.  I feel this lipstick does last a good amount of time (even after drinking and eating).  In my opinion, yes NARS is a helluvalot more expensive than most lipsticks, but when it comes to NARS I feel their quality is out of this world!

MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil (Nice n Spicy):

This is probably my most favourite lip liner EVER! (at the moment anyway 😉).  You know how much I adore MAC lip products you guys 😫

I didn’t actually set out to get this lip pencil when I went into the shop.  I wanted the normal lip pencil in ‘spice’ which was out of stock, as was ‘whirl’…and ‘cork’…and ‘stripdown’…and ‘soar’… and ‘boldy bare’.  Do you see where this is going? 😩 (achem The Kylie Jenner Effect 😏).

Well.  I wasn’t about to leave the store without a lipliner so the kind lady recommended I buy the Pro longwear version (£15.00).  The closest shade to ‘spice’ was ‘nice n spicy’ 😉.  This shade is a gorgeous rosy brown with terracotta undertones.  This lip pencil is soooo creamy and it stays on your lips like cement! (In a good way).  I needed  a good few swipes with makeup remover to get it off so you can be assured that this lasts all day!

The pencil doesn’t tug on your lips at all and is obviously very pigmented.  Rather than wear it alone, I like to pair it with pinker lipsticks as it creates the most beautiful soft pinkey nude shade.

Mac ‘nice n spicy’ on its own

As you can see, by itself it lacks something?!  I feel I need more 💋

‘nice n spicy’ and ‘brigitte’

Voila!  A bit of ‘brigitte’ on top and I get an extremely versatile shade that I can wear everyday and that lasts all day!

Mac nice n spicy and Nars brigitte= HAPPY BUNNY.

As you can see, a very simple everyday lip look.  If you’re hesitant about spending ungodly amounts of money on these (I don’t blame you) some good alternatives are:

  • Essence lip liner in 06 ‘satin mauve’
  • Makup forever aqua lip 2c
  • Revlon nude lip pencil
  • Loreal colour riche balm pop in ‘caring coral’

I would highly recommend both these shades for all skin tones!  The lip liner is just the perfect rosey brown and the lipstick brightens up your complexion without washing you out!

I really hope you enjoyed this post and I apologise if I ramble on sometimes (I get carried away with lippies 😂).  If you have any requests/queries please feel free to ask.  I love interacting with everyone.  Oh and I recently went to 100+ followers which is amazing?!?!  Thank you so much everyone!!

Hope you all have a fabulous day!!!  Love you guys.

NARS concealers review

Hey everyone!

Hope you’re all having a wonderful day 🙂

I’ve been so busy with university these past few days that it’s been quite hard to blog. I’ve been trying to strike a good balance with work, social life etc and I think I’m getting there slowly.  It takes a while to get used to all the work again after a good 4-5 months off doing pretty much nothing! 😉

Today I wanted to do a review on two NARS concealers which are by FAR my most favourite concealers ever! (and I’m a tough lass to please).

The two concealers are the NARS radiant creamy concealer and the NARS stick concealer which are both in the shade ‘ginger’.  This shade is described as a shade for medium complexions with golden undertones.  The radiant creamy concealer has 10 shades and the stick version has 9 shades.  These retail at £22 and £19 respectively.

NARS radiant creamy concealer and stick concealer in ‘ginger’

The radiant creamy concealer comes with a wand applicator and you get a decent 0.22 oz of product.  This concealer is fabulous!  It’s the only concealer shade that matches my skin PERFECTLY!  Trust me, being a medium toned girl with olive/golden undertones made it so hard for me to find a concealer shade that was perfect from the drugstore, so NARS definitely saved me there.  Since it matches me so perfectly, I like to use this concealer on days I am not wearing foundation by pinpoint concealing my blemishes.  This method makes my face look flawless without using too much product.  It’s also brilliant for covering dark circles (which most people would probably use the creamy one for) and the variety of shades allows you to also highlight and contour with a seamless finish.

This concealer is so creamy and has a medium to full coverage, so you definitely don’t need a lot.  I start with a small amount and blend it with a damp sponge and then build up coverage if necessary.  This instantly blurs any imperfections and fine lines.  It also has light diffusing technology which softens the look of skin (plus it’s non comedogenic yay!).  The reason I love this concealer so much is because of the pigment.  Some concealers disappear as soon as you start to blend them but this is a very opaque yet lightweight consistency which ensures you’re not wasting product.

Nars radiant creamy concealer and concealer stick

The next concealer is the stick version.  This a much more opaque version of the creamy concealer and is good for covering stubborn hyperpigmentation/blemishes.  It is still creamy and easy to blend and I think it’s great for my oily skin as it leaves a COMPLETELY matte finish and stays matte throughout the day (absolutely no shimmer unlike a lot of concealers).  It’s extremely long wearing, crease resistant and has a nourishing vitamin rich formula that looks after the skin.  Both these concealers are formulated without parabens, alcohol, sulfates and fragrances.

NARS concealer swatch

Also, these concealers don’t oxidise on my skin.  With previous concealers I found that they turned a ghastly shade of orange on my very yellow undertoned skin after a few hours, no matter what primer/setting powder I used.  So I am very pleasantly surprised at the formulation and wear.  I’m also so glad that NARS has concealers and foundations suited to us girls with yellow undertones (pale or darker skinned) which seems to be so hard to find at the drugstore.  Other brands with good yellow undertones include Bobbi Brown and MAC (worth the price you have to pay)

I rate these concealers a fab 9/10 (bit overpriced for some people but I think it’s totally worth it!  I’ve repurchased these about 6 times LOL).  If I had to choose one makeup product to keep for the rest of my life IT WOULD BE A NARS CONCEALER DAMMIT! 😉

I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a long wearing, matte finish concealer with a good (and unnervingly accurate) shade selection.  NARS is a bit overpriced in my opinion but honestly, these are so worth it.  I can see why makeup artists and the like love them so much!  Go try them!

I hope you enjoyed this review and let me know what your favourite NARS product is or what’s on your wishlist 🙂  I’d love to hear from you.

Hope you all have a glorious day!
